Christianity failed long ago, all of the apocalypses and smiting and judgement and references to doom and gloom was all in reference to events up to about 300AD. Armageddon has been imminent ever since, Christianity just adapted to a constant state of "imminent apocalypse" to keep the masses in check, and on we go pretending that it's a perfectly normal and rational thing to believe in garden fairies.

Well I just got back from the gates of heaven, I had a bit of a tiff with St Peter because he didnt like me taking the piss out of his dress, so they've decided to cancel the rest of the Rapture.

Anyway whilst up there I met the J.C. - he says he's doing fine. I asked him "where's yo bitch" but it turns out that Jesus loves everyone, including men, so he still hasnt married his whore*. I had no idea Jesus was so gay**, I bet that's going to piss off a lot of Christians.

*Biblical definition: I in no way believe that a woman who has sex out of marriage is a whore, but in this case it seemed approrpiate to use the bibical description of womanhood.

**Bibical definition: Jesus "knew" a lot of men and loves everyone. Modern definition: Gay.

To be honest it's about time we had another apocalypse, we havn't had one in a year or so, and there hasn't been a Christian apocalypse I can recall since the mid 90's - although I dont keep track of the Jehova's Witnesses continual claims of imminent armageddon so I may have missed some.

Unfortunately the regularity of these events and their failure to unfold does not seem to sway those who believe in them. Then again, if cast iron proof had any effect on the religious then there wouldn't be religion in the first place.

Anyway must dash, it's almost 2pm which is when I must pray to the Invisible Pink Unicorn in the sky.

Well I still suck 15 months after first picking up a guitar.

But I now own 3 of them, and despite being equally aweful on all of them I am loving every moment that i'm aggitating my neighbours with them.

My latest guitar, Phoebe, is an accoustic with what I call her electric nipple - which is a pickup for amplification. I was quite astounded when I wired her electric nipple up to my amplifier for the first time a couple of days ago and started adding distortion! I had no idea an accoustic could sound so ... well, so electric! It's awesome!

Everybody should do this immediately. It will blow your knickers off.

Quote from Boris Lozac :But if they were that 'evil' they would charge for PS3 online playing.. which they don't, even if they totally could..

I'm really not qualified to discuss in depth on the issue as i'm not a Playstation owner. An ex left me a playstation 2 once and I gave it away...

But as I understand it PSN does charge for it's plus service - so what in effect the free PSN is is a free demo version where you pay for the content you use individually. Does this accurately sum it up?

*shrug* It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Sony are after your money, the method they use is the one that they feel will generate them the most money. That doesn't sound terribly "noble" to me. I wouldn't expect any company to act in a noble way frankly, so it's no fault of Sony. I just don't see the point of idolising them.

All of this is far far away from the original point though, which is that Sony were targetted because of what they represent, rather than any specific ill.

Although serving court papers on the friends of the hackers probably didn't win them any merit...

Just tuning in for the first time this season, I'll be cheering on the Aston's as usual even though this years car appears to be slower than the police response time to car crime.

It's just such a shame they've gone open cockpit. The old Lola Aston was beautiful and this years car just doesn't look like an Aston should, when usually they are so gorgeous my knickers go into an uncontrollable spasmodic quacking at the slightest glimpse.

Quote from Boris Lozac :And why have i even brought this up? Not because PS3vs360 flamewar which is stupid, but those Becky's remarks got to me.. If anyone pushed technology and progress, it's Sony.

I am sorry I pushed your sensibilities too far!

I meagrely pointed out why Sony have been targeted by the hackers. If it makes you feel better you can rest assured that I haven't personally done any hacking of this kind in the last 15 years, and these days my job involves making sure credit card and personal information remains safe from people like I used to be.

All I did was explain why Sony are the target of this type of attack, because of what Sony as a company represents to the hackers.

You can cry foul all you like, and say that MS are worse, but MS never lobbied for new laws that directly effected your perceived rights on the internet. You can try and cite MS for introducing the concept of paid gaming, but the real culprit there is Brad McQuaid, Steve Clover, and Bill Trost of 989 Studios - owned by Sony - who introduced the world to the concept of subscription gaming.

The fact that MS charge a subscription for a slightly different form of online gaming does not change the fact that it was Sony who came up with the concept.

So you can cite MS are evil all you like, and in fact the hackers would probably agree with you - but they'll quickly point out that Sony is worse, and so Sony will remain their focus.

Sony has two options, they can either raise their game and start being diligent about the data they hold, or they can change their business practices so that somebody else becomes the focus.

The problem is, and the reason they remain a target, is that Sony will cost evaluate these two options and pluck for a third - do some PR repair work in a few months, use taxpayer funded police to trace some hackers to serve, and carry on as normal.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Wtf are you on about.. maybe you meant microsoft or samsung..

I meant exactly what I said.

Microsoft for all their ills have never been into spying on us. Sony have. Microsoft don't pass their own laws, Sony have.

The hackers, agree with them or otherwise, have targeted Sony because Sony represent something far worse than Microsoft who just got us all standardised on a fairly middle of the range and somewhat bloaty operating system. Meanwhile Sony have been merrily been stripping away civil liberties in the pursuit of more profit.

Whilst your location may have averted you from the worst of it Boris, over here we've got the Digital Economy Act, and in America they're lobbying for Copyright scanners installed on every PC and iPods scanned for downloaded music files when entering the country. Meanwhile they're installing rootkits on our PC's and collecting usage data every time you fire up your PS3.

Sony want control over us. Microsofts only sin was being a bit crap.

That's why Sony is the target of these attacks. They took their gloves off spilling for a fight, and they got their teeth smashed in.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Well they f'd up pretty bad I agree, but I don't see how they deserved all this hate from people..

If there is an evil cynical corporation whos boundaries extend beyond greed and into espionage of our private lives in order to sell us even more product, and three are several such corporations, but if there was just one then it would be Sony.

Hacking Sony is an act of defiance not just against the company itself, but of what it represents in the new global economy. Corporations with reaches that extend beyond governments and with the wealth to influence them (such as the UK's Digital Economy Act).

Sony are the epitome of the worst case scenario in a bleak corporate future, and they're here right now, in this age.

Deserve it? Yes they do - but it's more than that, Sony is a symbol that represents the worst aspects of corporate greed.

Quote from S14 DRIFT :Sony have been very honest and professional IMO, much more so than many of the hundreds of thousands of other companies which have misplaced our data. They have been open with their userbase and even provided tips and "FAQs" as it where about what to do in the future to keep your data secure.

They're certainly more helpful so than our own Government when some hapless employee leaves an unencrypted laptop on a train, they don't even say what sort of data or who, or what to do...

Give Sony a break.

I got an email from Sony yesterday informing me that they had given my card details out to a passing stranger.

The email did not apologise once, and the tone of it insisted that it only effected non-US customers so it wasn't that big of an issue.

Thanks Sony!

I don't even have a smegging Playstation. I played a computer game that Sony bought out when I stopped playing, and a few years ago I signed up for a couple of months for old times sake before closing my account again.

Now my personal data INCLUDING my debit card is property of the internet, because Sony aren't PCI compliant.

Under UK law they require a PCI level of 1 for the size and nature of their business in order to trade online, which should involve full code audits by an independent and approved company every 3 months.

I pressume Sony have bypassed the PCI system by forming the SOE and PSN network parent companies on foreign soil, that being the case then how can I have faith in the PCI system?

I think we need a law that to take money from a UK card - for any business over a certain size - you must use a UK payment gateway, thus forcing these big companies to play by the same rules as the rest of us - because a British company just couldn't get away with this gross level of incompetence. The degree of auditing and scrutiny for companies that take large amounts of card payments would prohibit it.

Quote from dadge :i'm just wondering because i think a fair percentage of lesbians just haven't been served properly. like if someone was knocking at your back door rather than smashing it right in. leaving it like a broken cat flap so to speak.

That's right, all we need is a big black cock and we're back on the men.

I always knew I was different even in childhood, there was no male inadequacy that led up to it.

The only doubts I ever had where from my extremely religious tutoring, 3 days bible study a week gives you a very warped perspective and taught me that I was a demon sent to destroy the Earth for my heretic feelings - and as a woman my only worth was in trade for cows.

Luckily I was gifted with a brain and as soon as I learned to use it for myself I shed myself of the burden of everything that religious nut cases had taught me and figured stuff out for myself.

One of those things, of course, was how to completely satisfy a woman without the use of a cock.

So the next time I see you in public and I give you the finger, am I being offensive? Or a streaker?

Quote from Shotglass :what they did was to serverly underclock some pentium 1
ended up with a boot time of 30 minutes... quite nippy if you ask me

Hrmm. Clever, but i'm not sure that really counts because underclocking doesnt meen it worked on older hardware. What they've done I would say is created an emulator, which does neatly get around the issue of addressable memory space, but doesn't prove Windows will run on early 80's hardware.

Quote from bunder9999 :i had the vista beta on my laptop (p4m-2.0, 1gb ram) some ages ago and when it booted, it used ~900mb just to boot to the desktop. opening IE (or any program for that matter) would push it into swap.

i refuse to buy RAM so the OS can pig it all. i know you can go in and strip down all the services, but i shouldn't effing have to do that. since W2K is EOL, i'll probably be one of the last users of XP... after that, i don't even know what i'll do, because there is no way i'm buying a computer with 4gb of memory just so windows can use it all, instead of all the other bloaty apps people create these days...

Quote from Whiskey :Don't worth a try.
I saw how slow was it with 1.14GHz and 512MB ram. Too much slow compared to XP.

PS: It is also posible to run XP on an 8MHz processor (no typo :nod, but that does not means it is actually useful at all haha

I would be suprised - and in a very geeky way overjoyed.

The 8088 and 8086 processors (the only Intel series chips that I can recall being clockable at 8mhz) don't have built in MMU's and have insufficient memory address range to load Windows without the use of VMM, creating a paradox of fail.

If someones pulled that off they deserve a great big geek award, and to be protected from that scary sunshine stuff and those unfamiliar daunting girls for the rest of their life.

Quote from 91mason91 :Two wrongs don't make a right.

I've heard this said many a time, but i've never heard anyone give a reason why.

I would argue that it would be wrong for me to lock you in a cell for 6 months with Big Tony, but if I smack you in the face it's ok for the government to lock me in a cell with Big Betty.

So if it's ok for the government to answer a wrong with a wrong, then why is it not okay for a member of the public to answer a wrong with a wrong?

The entire judicial system is a system based upon revenge, not prevention.

Therefore, a second wrong makes an earlier wrong righted.

I had a first date today, it went well and I hope to see her agian.

I did not sleep with her. Do I show respect for women or what!

There was a disaster though, she's showing me around the village i've just moved in too and she needed the loo so she popped into her parents house and her dad comes out and fetches me from the car (her car is a super cool 60's VW Sports car, you guys would love it).

So i've known this girl 45 minutes and already i'm meeting the parents, I meen seriously I know lesbians have this reputation for uhauling but met her parents before I even knew whether she liked to be called Jo or Joey.

So there I am, meeting the parents, when it dawns on me that i'm wearing a top that has a full front print of a naked woman smoking a joint and touching herself, complete with studded wrist guard and every finger nail painted a different colour and wild multi-coloured hair.

What can I say? Welcome to the 21st century bitches...
